چکیده

Fruit bagging protects fruits from pest infestation and multiple biotic abiotic stresses during development without reducing yield. It also can potentially improve the quality market value of fruits. Hence, present study aimed to determine effect pre-harvest fruit on yield tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) cv. BARI Tomato-2. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications that constituted various treatments- T0: Control (no bagging), T1: White paper bag (single layer), T2: Brown (double T3: Non-woven fabric bag, T4: Jute October 2021 March 2022. results showed non-woven had highest length (57.79 mm), diameter (57.81 number plant-1 (55.9), (4.06 kg plant-1), vitamin C (24.63mg/ 100g-1), lycopene content (0.12 mg g-1). maximum insect incidence (18.41%) recorded control minimum counted T3 (2.17%). total soluble solid (6.73%0Brix) dry matter (8.63%) were observed white bag. mean color score (6.08), firmness (26.81%), shelf life (13 days) found bags outperformed non-bagged net income (21.12 TK) benefit: cost ratio (2.36). Thus, best for improving physical chemical qualities tomatoes among fruit-covering materials.

The Effect of UV-C Irradiation on Rot Control and Postharvest Quality of Greenhouse Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum cv. Newton)

Tomato is one of the most important horticultural crops that is corruptible and susceptible to microbial contamination. In this study, the effect of UV-C at five different irradiation intensities (0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 kJ/m2) on rot control and postharvest quality of greenhouse tomato was investigated. Tomato (cv. Newton) fruits were harvested from a commercial greenhouse at vine-ripe stage and aft...

Root-synthesized cytokinins improve shoot growth and fruit yield in salinized tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) plants

Salinity limits crop productivity, in part by decreasing shoot concentrations of the growth-promoting and senescence-delaying hormones cytokinins. Since constitutive cytokinin overproduction may have pleiotropic effects on plant development, two approaches assessed whether specific root-localized transgenic IPT (a key enzyme for cytokinin biosynthesis) gene expression could substantially improv...

Effect of Vermicompost on Growth, Yield and Quality of Tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum L)

Cattle dung vermicompost (VC) was used to prepare different proportions of soil and vermicompost mixtures viz. Soil (control), VC15 (Soil+15% VC), VC30 (Soil+30% VC), VC45 (Soil+45% VC). Vermicompost was chemically analysed for various parameters like pH, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN), Total Available Phosphorous (TAP), Total Sodium (TNa), Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and Electric Conductivity (E...
